Industry vet John McL. Doelp has been tapped prexy of Emilio Estefan-led Crescent Moon Records, signaling the label’s expansion.

Doelp had been exec veep/general manager of Sony Music’s 550 Records.

The Miami-based label recently bowed offices in Gotham and L.A., and is in the process of expanding its artist roster and exec ranks.

“John has worked with both Gloria and myself in different capacities. … He is someone we trust who understands how to present our music to different audiences,” said Estefan, to whom Doelp will report.

Doelp will oversee all the day-to-day operations of the label, which is distributed by Sony Music and boasts a roster of diverse acts.

While signing domestic acts, the label will also focus on crossing over international artists into Stateside successes.

Doelp will work closely with Estefan on strategic pacts designed to boost the label’s profile.

The move returns Doelp to a role shepherding Gloria Estefan’s performance career, as he did while senior veep of marketing for Epic Records, a post he held before segueing to 550.
