Lars Hansen has been tapped prexy and CEO of Theatre L.A. by the organization’s board of governors. He will replace Alisa Fishbach, who ankled the post in April to open her own performing arts management company.
For Hansen, the move is a return to familiar stomping grounds. Ten years ago, he helped create Theatre L.A., a nonprofit org that produces award shows and educational events for the theatrical community.
“We are extremely enthusiastic about the selection,” said Theatre L.A. chair Jeff Brown. “Lars has all the tools and interpersonal skills necessary to take the organization to great heights.”
Most recently, Hanson served as exec director of the Pasadena Playhouse, a position he’s held since 1988. While there, he oversaw productions of “Steel Magnolias,” “Solitary Confinement” and “Sisterella.”
Prior to the Playhouse, Hansen worked at Playwrights Horizons in New York. He was also a producer of Philadelphia’s American Music Theatre Festival and a musical director of the Long Beach Civic Light Opera.
