Just For Laughs: The Montreal Comedy Festival, skedded to run July 15 to 25, will feature many new comic works, as well as returning favorites. In its 17th year, Just For Laughs is the world’s largest all-comedy event.
“This year, we’re focusing on the tremendous creative capacity of Just For Laughs, on the fascination of Street Theatre, and on the event’s appeal to children,” festival CEO Andy Nulman said.
David Hyde Pierce, Jerry Springer and Howie Mandel will each host a Gala at the St. Denis Theatre. Other performers include Kevin James (“King of Queens”), Elayne Boosler, Anthony Clarke (“Boston Common, “Soulman”) and Rich Jeni.
Just For Laughs is credited with launching the careers of top comics including Tim Allen, Drew Carey, Steve Harvey, Ray Romano, Brett Butler and D.L. Hughley.
Last year, the 11-day event attracted 1.2 million people, including industry executives and talent. Nulman attributes their success to “expanding the depth of programming and moving our outdoor site to the Latin Quarter.”
