Writer-directors John Boorman (“Excalibur”), Christopher Hampton (“Dangerous Liaisons”) and Jim Sheridan (“The Boxer”) have joined the lineup of this year’s Words Into Pictures symposium in Santa Monica.
The program, sponsored by the Writers Guild Foundation, will feature appearances by other British and Australian filmmakers and screenwriters, including Jimmy McGovern (“Cracker,” “Priest”), Jan Sardi (“Ground Zero,” “Shine”), Alan Plater (“Fortunes of War,” “The Barchester Chronicles”) and Mac Gudgeon (“Ground Zero,” “Wind”).
Local panelists at the June 4-6 event are to include Allison Anders, Leslie Dixon, Lindsay Doran, Bo Goldman, Amy Holden Jones, Kasi Lemmons and Laura Ziskin. Callie Khouri and Tom Schulman are the conference’s chief organizers.
As previously reported, other Hollywood scribes and execs who have agreed to take part in some of the 30 scheduled panel discussions are Paul Attanasio, James L. Brooks, Scott Frank, David E. Kelley, Bill Mechanic, Marc Norman, Don Roos, Aaron Sorkin and Steven Zaillian (Daily Variety, April 13).
Kicked off by a party on the Santa Monica Pier on June 4, Words Into Pictures will take place at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, site of the annual American Film Market.
