Shelton ankles Kiwi film job

Exec steps down after 22 years

WELLINGTON, New Zealand –The New Zealand Film Commission’s Lindsay Shelton, one of the longest-serving execs in the international film sales business, is stepping down after 22 years with the agency.

Shelton is leaving his marketing director post next June, but his departure was announced Tuesday to allow the commission ample time to scout for a successor.

“Lindsay’s knowledge and commitment are exceptional. His will be very hard shoes to fill,” NZFC chief exec Ruth Harley told Daily Variety.

Shelton, 60, is undecided about what he’ll do next.

During his tenure, he handled international sales for more than 60 Kiwi films, including Lee Tamahori’s “Once Were Warriors” and Jane Campion’s “An Angel at My Table,” plus pics from such directors as Peter Jackson, Vincent Ward, Roger Donaldson, Geoff Murphy, Sam Pillsbury and Scott Reynolds.
