Juliette Lewis is set to star in Renegade Films’ romantic comedy “Room to Rent.”

Lewis will play an aspiring actress who supports herself as a Marilyn Monroe impersonator. Her talents catch the eye — and affection — of an aspiring screenwriter (Said Taghmaoui) with an immigration problem. Lensing will begin next month in London.

Lewis, whose turn in 1991’s “Cape Fear” earned her an Academy Award nomination as best supporting actress, recently wrapped Artisan’s crime thriller “The Way of the Gun.” Taghmaoui has appeared in “Hideous Kinky” and the upcoming Desert Storm pic, “Three Kings.” Lewis is repped by William Morris and Joel Stevens Entertainment.

Diane Ladd is joining the cast of the indie pic “Redemption of Ghosts” for director Richard Friedman (“Can’t Be Heaven”).

Gene Bicknell stars as a prison escapee who takes refuge in a barn of two children he befriends. Arrested for embezzlement, the fugitive decides to set things right by returning the loot, which he only stole to please his gold-digging wife (Rachel Hunter). Ladd plays the aunt of the unknowing children and Alexandra Paul their mother. John Savage is the trail-sniffing sheriff. Friedman, who has numerous TV directing credits, directed the upcoming feature “Ground Zero” for Porchlight Entertainment.

Ladd, who worked with Friedman on “Heaven,” will follow “Ghost” with the John Greyson-helmed “Law of Enclosures,” starring Sarah Polley. The actress recently completed lensing the Sandra Bullock-starrer “28 Days” for helmer Betty Thomas. She is repped by the Chasin Agency and manager Elizabeth Fowler.
