Natasha Henstridge will join Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck in Don Roos’ “Bounce” for Miramax.
The drama unfolds as Affleck’s character gives away a plane ticket to an anxious traveler in order to have a one night stand with a woman (Henstridge). When the plane crashes, killing everyone on board, he seeks out the widow (Paltrow) of the unlucky guy who took his seat.
Roos (“The Opposite of Sex”) directs from his own script. Michael Besman and Steve Golin will produce.
Henstridge (“Species”) is repped by manager Ted Schachter and the William Morris Agency.

Catherine McCormack has signed on to director Kathryn Bigelow’s “The Weight of Water,” playing a journalist investigating murders that took place 100 years ago. Story parallels the present day with the events of the past.
McCormack joins Sean Penn and Sarah Polley in the adaptation of Anita Shreve’s novel for Canal Plus.
McCormack appeared in Mel Gibson’s “Braveheart” and last year’s “Dangerous Beauty.” She is repped by CAA.

Dean Norris has joined the cast of New Line’s “The Cell,” starring Jennifer Lopez and Vince Vaughn.
Additionally, Norris has landed recurring roles on David E. Kelley’s “The Practice” and the syndicated series “Pensacola: Wings of Gold.” Norris’ previous feature credits include F. Gary Gray’s “The Negotiator,” and Paul Verhoeven’s “Starship Troopers.” He is repped by Dina Barone & Company.

Gerald McRaney has signed to play the conservative father of a teen singing sensation in CBS’ four-hour music mini “Shake, Rattle & Roll.” Mike Robe directs from a script he co-wrote with Bill Kerby. Robe and Mike Medavoy serve as exec producers while Preston Fisher holds a producer title.
For the past three seasons, McRaney has starred on CBS’ “The Promised Land.” He is repped by Michael Karg of the Karg Agency.

Dana Ashbrook has joined the cast of “The Last Place on Earth” from writer-director-producer JFK Ford.
Ashbrook will play a burned-out exec who falls in love with a passionate and carefree woman, only to discover that she is terminally ill. Tisha Campbell co-stars and Joseph Armetta and Barrie M. Osborne (“The Matrix,” “Face/Off”) produce.
Ashbrook is best-known for his role on the David Lynch series “Twin Peaks.” He is repped by Julia Buchwald and Tim Angle at Don Buchwald & Associates and Rigberg-Roberts Management.

Christian Kane has joined Tom Selleck in TNT’s “Crossfire Trail” based on the Louis L’Amour novel. Simon Wincer (“Lonesome Dove,” “Free Willy”) directs and Selleck produces.
Kane made his feature debut in the recent “EdTV” starring Matthew McConaughey and Jenna Elfman. He is repped by Alissa Alder at Paradigm and manager Stacy Boniello of Blue Train Entertainment.

Former MTV veejay Julie Brown has signed on as the host of Columbia TriStar Television’s new syndicated weekly skein “Battledome,” a sports show in the vein of “American Gladiators.” Brown has signed a seven-year contract to be the host and correspondent.
Separately, Brown has also signed to satcaster DirecTV’s signature music program “In Tune,” maintaining hosting duties that include interviewing artists and promoting new releases.
Brown’s deals were negotiated by Nicole Taylor Perry at ARL, manager Steven Jensen of Independent Management Group, and attorney Stewart Brookman at Weisman Wolfe.
