Phoenix Pictures has signed two leads along with a string of co-stars for youthful thriller “Urban Legend 2.”
Newcomer Matthew Davis will star alongside Jennifer Morrison (“Intersection”) as two film students whose peers are mysteriously disappearing at the hands of a campus killer. Jessica Cauffiel (“The Out-of-Towners”) and Anthony Anderson (“Me, Myself and Irene”) will play fellow terrorized students. Loretta Devine (“Down in the Delta”) reprises her role as Reese, a member of the campus security force. The group joins the already signed Joseph Lawrence, whose participation in the project was announced yesterday.
The role is a coup for Davis, a 21-year-old student from Salt Lake City with no professional acting credits.
Morrison can be seen in Artisan’s supernatural thriller “Stir of Echoes,” starring Kevin Bacon.
Although it follows the original, released last year, “Urban Legend 2” is not a sequel; it’s described as more thriller than slasher film. Scott Derrickson and Paul Harris Boardman penned the script; John Ottman is directing. Neal Moritz, Gina Matthews and Richard Rothchild serve as producers.
