MTV Films options ‘Inferno’

Spec script spoofs '70s disco and disaster film mania

Paramount-based MTV Films and Aurora Prods. have optioned the spec script “Disco Inferno” from writers Bernard Deniger, Paul Pare and Terence Bowman.

Script is a spoof of the 1970s disco mania and the corresponding stream of disaster films that emanated from Hollywood.

Aurora’s William Stuart and Al Septien will produce the pic. MTV Films head David Gale and VP Elysa Koplovitz will oversee the pic for their company.

Part of the story takes place in the world’s largest roller disco, which is situated at the bottom of a dormant volcano.

The scribes, who hail from Montreal, have made a career for themselves on stage, TV and radio as a comedy trio known as The Vestibules. The also wrote the YTV Network show “Radio Active.”

Aurora’s credits include exec producing “The Rock.” The company is in post-production on “Candyman: Day of the Dead,” directed by Turi Meyer.
