Musicvideo helmer McG will make his feature directorial debut when “Charlie’s Angels” goes before the cameras Dec. 6 in Los Angeles.
Sony has been developing the project for several years. The original screenplay, based on the 1970s television show, was written by Ed Solomon (“Men in Black”) and peddled to many directors before McG signed on.
Pic will be exec produced by Aaron Spelling and produced by Leonard Goldberg (“Double Jeopardy”), the pair who exec produced the TV show, which ran from 1976-1981 on ABC. Betty Thomas, Jenno Topping and James M. Caracciolo also will serve as exec producers.
Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen will produce through their Flower Films banner, while Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu will star as the three angels.
McG’s musicvid credits include Sugar Ray’s “Every Morning” and “Fly”; Smash Mouth’s “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby” and “Walking on the Sun”; and Mase’s “Lookin’ at Me.”
