Robert De Niro will produce, and possibly direct and star in, “There’s Something About Miranda” for MGM.
The studio picked up the “Miranda” screenplay, written by Bryan Borrough, for high-six figures against a percentage of the direct negative cost. Borrough co-wrote HBO’s “Barbarians at the Gate” and also is scripting “Storm Warning” for Lynda Obst Prods. at Par.
He also scripted “Dragonfly,” set up at U with Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment.
“Miranda” is based on a Vanity Fair article detailing the intimate but nonsexual affairs a woman had with a parade of famous men.
MGM prexy Michael Nathanson said the Lion beat out Paramount and producer Scott Rudin. De Niro will produce under his Tribeca banner, which has a deal with MGM.
It’s not clear who may star, but insiders say De Niro has shown interest in appearing in the pic as himself.
Borrough is repped by CAA and Andrew Wylie at the Wylie Agency.
