Gotham-based independent production shingle GreeneStreet/SKE will produce and finance “Finger Nails and Smooth Skin,” a romantic comedy written and directed by Steve Chbosky, helmer of 1995 Sundance entry “The Four Corners of Nowhere.” Tim Perell and GreeneStreet partner John Penotti are set to co-produce.
Pic, which will begin shooting in the first quarter of the new year, concerns a pair of young lovers whose longtime relationship barely survives their foibles and infidelities.
Since helming “Nowhere,” Chbosky has been sought after as a scribe for hire. He just completed “Audrey Hepburn’s Neck” for Miramax, with Griffin Dunne attached to direct, and has written “Schoolhouse Rock” for Jersey Films and Columbia. In February, his novel “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” was published by MTV Books and Simon & Schuster.
GreeneStreet/SKE production topper Tim Williams will oversee “Fingernails,” while partner Bradley Yonover will coordinate the financing.
Chbosky is repped by ICM’s Jeff Gorin and Leora Bloch; he’s lawyered by Ken Richman of Hanson, Jacobson, Teller and Hoberman.
