Indie film company Full Moon Releasing is looking to scream out pic titles under its newly created horror/fantasy label Alchemy Entertainment.
Full Moon wants its latest arm, under exec producer Mel Johnson Jr., to house startup talent from the black filmmaking community.
“The opportunity to make our own unique brand of high quality urban films is something we’ve looked forward to with anticipation for a long time,” said Full Moon chairman Charles Band.
First on Alchemy’s slate is “Ragdoll,” a story of a 15-year-old boy who is intent on avenging the gang beating of his grandmother. Pic will be released in August.
In November, Alchemy will release “Doctor Bones,” a political fable about a doctor selling zombie workers to capitalist entrepreneurs.
Both pics are in pre-production, with attached helmers and actors to be announced later. Alchemy has pacted with Full Moon to release at least one film each quarter.
