LONDON — Fragile Films, producer of “Spiceworld” and “An Ideal Husband,” has been selected as the preferred bidder for London’s historic Ealing Studios.
Fragile heads a consortium that includes San Francisco-based new-media specialist the Idea Factory and Manhattan Loft Co., a London property developer.
The studios are being sold by the National Film & Television School. The site is understood be valued at around $10 million.
“We intend to turn Ealing into a next-generation digital studio, the first of its kind in Europe, that combines traditional film and TV production with new media and Internet start-ups,” said Uri Fruchtmann, co-founder of Fragile.
“Ealing is the greatest name in British film, and we are thrilled to be taking this glorious institution into the 21st century,” said Fruchtmann’s partner Barnaby Thompson.
