Destination goes ‘Wild’ for Christensen comedy

Scribe gets mid- against high-six

Destination Films has acquired the rights to Ronnie Christensen’s latest spec “Wild Kingdom.”

Scribe will receive a mid- against high-six figures for his services.

The pic will be produced by Stan Winston of Stan Winston Prods., while Brian Gilbert, veep of Stan Winston Prods., will co-produce.

“Wild Kingdom” is a comedic story about a futuristic control officer whose job it is to track down stray biologically engineered creatures before they wreck havoc on New York City. All creature effects will be handled by the Stan Winston Studio.

Christensen previously sold three other spec scripts: “The Bet” to Dreamworks; “Eden” to Disney; and “The Soundman” to Touchstone. Scribe has done rewrites on Disney’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth” — among other films.

Gilbert brought the project to John Bertolli, Destination’s co-head of production, who will supervise for the company.

Christensen’s deal was negotiated by agent Michele Wallerstein of SGK & Associates, attorney Mitch Smelkinson of Stone, Meyer & Genow and Destination’s executive veep of legal and business affairs, Neil Sacker.
