Walt Disney will ring in the next millennium with a New Year’s Eve world preem of “Fantasia 2000” at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
For the appropriate ticket price of $2,000, with a portion of sales benefiting the CalArts, auds will watch “Fantasia 2000” the night before the pic officially opens worldwide at IMAX theaters.
As an added treat, the film will be accompanied live by London’s Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Derrick Inouye.
The black tie bash also boasts a midnight Y2K countdown, live music by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Chicago and food prepared by chef Joachim Splichal and Patina Catering.
“‘Fantasia 2000’ is the culmination of all the hard work and devotion that’s gone into bringing Walt’s fondest wish into reality,” said the company’s vice chair and animation chief Roy E. Disney.
The film is a digitally animated remake of the original 1940 release. The new version includes seven new visual interpretations of classical works by Beethoven, Gershwin and Stravinsky.
