BOMBAY “The Sixth Sense,” which is skedded to open in India Nov. 12, has generated considerable advance publicity.
Pic, helmed by Indian native M. Night Shyamalan, premieres at the Calcutta Film Festival in the Film India Worldwide section, which showcases films that connect India with the international movie scene.
On Nov. 19, “The Sixth Sense” will open the fledgling Bombay festival in India’s film capital. On the same day, “The Sixth Sense” open in theaters nationally in both its original English and Hindi dubbed versions.
Recent newspaper reports about Shyamalan and his film’s Stateside success will likely ensure initial healthy box office.
There has also been much demand for private screenings of the film, with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee punctuating his hectic post-election schedule to find time to see it.
