‘Storytellers’ uses unique online ticketing service

Acteva.com offers passes to pic preem

The filmmakers behind the indie romantic comedy “The Storytellers” have turned to newly launched ticketing Web site Acteva.com to offer free passes to the pic’s January premiere.

Acteva, once operating under the TixToGo.com banner, enables users to create individual Web sites to offer visitors tickets to their advertised events.

The Web site for “Storytellers” features a trailer and press kit for the pic, helmed by James Hickox and starring Tippi Hedren (“The Birds”), Michael Worth, Mitzi Kapture (“Baywatch”) and Brad Dourif. Film’s about a woman who forces her son to sell her scripts.

Renee Roland produces with Liane Davila and Jonnie Mae Lindsell of Da’Lin Films.

Pic’s producers are hoping the site will help attract potential buyers to the screening and land it a lucrative U.S. distribution deal.

“The freedom of the (Acteva) site is that it enables anyone to publicize an event and sell or give away tickets,” said Lu Cordova, CEO of San Francisco-based Acteva. “It’s up to the users to decide how to use the site.”

Acteva has already been used to sell tickets to raves, AIDS walks, fund-raisers, political campaigns, corporate meetings, festivals and tours.

“Storytellers” premieres at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Harmony Gold screening room. For information, call (323) 851-4900.
