Platinum Entertainment said Monday it plans to offer its entire music catalog free for digital download on a new Web site, HeardOn.com.
The advertiser-supported site will launch Dec. 15, starting with a selection of holiday songs and moving to encompass the company’s 15,000-title library as well as Platinum’s wide selection of classical music.
Unsigned artists will also be encouraged to post their music on the site. The most frequently downloaded artist each quarter will be guaranteed a record contract worth a minimum of $250,000, Platinum said.
