HOLLYWOOD — In a move that positions it as the biggest broadband programmer, News Corp.’s Fox News Online is replacing CNN Interactive as the premier news service for AT&T’s high-speed Internet cable service @Home Network.

Deal comes on the heels of News Corp.’s announcement of forming the Internet venture e-partners (Daily Variety, April 28). However, Fox News Online, under News Corp.’s News America Digital Publishing unit, will operate independently of the e-partners division.

“Our partnership with @Home coupled with our investments in the development of compelling creative properties will give News Corp. an early advantage in the broadband marketplace,” said News Corp. prexy and chief operating officer Peter Chernin.

Under terms of the multiyear deal, approximated but not confirmed at 5 years with options, @Home will have access to Fox News Online stories updated on a 24-hour basis, featuring both Fox News and Fox News Channel’s top on-air personalities.

All programming will be specifically designed to fit @Home’s requirements for broadband via cable.
