U names Huntsberry CFO

Exec responsible for all global finance activities

Universal Pictures has tapped Frederick Huntsberry as its new chief financial officer.

The exec, who was previously CFO for Universal Television and Networks Group, will report to U Pics co-chairmen Brian Mulligan and Stacey Snider.

Huntsberry will be responsible for all global finance activities including performance monitoring, accounting and reporting for the U Pics Group, which comprises U Pics, U Pics Intl., U Studios Home Video, U Pics Animation and Visual Effects, U Family and Home Entertainment Prods. and U Cartoon Studios.

In addition, Huntsberry will oversee the U Pics Group’s worldwide IT operations.

Huntsberry succeeds William Sutman, who last month took on the CFO role at U Pics’ parent, U Studios.

“Not only is Frederick extremely knowledgeable in all areas of finance and management, but with his considerable European experience and multi-lingual skills, he brings a global perspective that makes him the ideal person to fill this role,” Mulligan said. U has a number of international operations, including London-based UPI, which the studio maintains as an alternative distribution facility to United Intl. Pictures.

Huntsberry joined U in January 1997 as VP of business development for U Pay Television. Prior to that he was an exec at General Electric for 12 years.
