Beefing up its Internet staff, Tribune Broadcasting Co. has upped Michael A. Silver to the newly created position of veep of new media.
In his new post, Silver will oversee the development of strategic opportunities and advancements in digital broadcasting and interactive programming.
“We’re delighted that Mike has joined the broadcast group,” said Tribune prexy Dennis J. FitzSimons. “He brings a wealth of experience in new-media applications and a track record for innovative thinking that will serve our stations well in the digital age.”
Silver most recently served as senior veep of development for Tribune Interactive.
He joined the company in 1996 and was named senior veep, development, in 1998, overseeing new products, opportunities and partnerships for Tribune’s Internet and electronic publishing business. While there, he also oversaw a network of Web sites and enhanced-TV products for Tribune Broadcasting’s 18 stations and interactive projects.
He was also veep, editorial and development, for Tribune Media Services.
