Digital video recorder maker Tivo Inc. on Monday tapped former J.P. Morgan managing director David Courtney as veep and chief financial officer and Mark Roberts as chief information officer.
In his new position, Courtney will oversee the financial direction of the Sunnyvale-based company. At J.P. Morgan & Co., he served as managing director and head of the firm’s Western U.S. High Tech Group, where he expanded the firm’s presence in Silicon Valley by initiating relationships and executing transactions with a broad range of technology companies.
Prior to J.P. Morgan, Courtney worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co. as veep and senior member of the high technology group.
As chief information officer, Roberts will oversee the development and maintenance of Tivo’s technology infrastructure and collaborate with the company’s executive management team. Roberts was veep of information technology for Acuson Inc., a manufacturer of medical diagnostic ultrasound products. From 1990-1996, he held directorial and senior management roles at Silicon Graphics Inc.
Tivo began shipping its set-top boxes last month that can pause, rewind and instantly replay any selected live television broadcast. They also enable viewers to search for and record shows based on themes, actors or titles.
