Talk Miramax wrangles rights to Queen Noor bio

Publisher acquires rights to Hussein's widow's novel

NEW YORK — Following a heated auction last week, Talk Miramax books has acquired worldwide rights to the autobiography of Queen Noor of Jordan, widow of King Hussein. The deal includes serialization rights for Talk magazine and freezes the screen rights until further discussion between Talk Miramax books and Queen Noor.

Since 1978, she has been a major player in promoting Arab-Western relations as well as a champion for the rights of women and children. Before her husband’s death, the American-born queen had become an international spokeswoman for the campaign to ban global landmines.

The deal was struck between Talk Miramax books editor-in-chief Jonathan Burnham and Queen Noor’s rep, Robert Barnett of Williams & Connolly in Washington D.C.

The book will be published as part of Talk Miramax’s spring 2001 list.
