Sherri G. Sneed has been named prexy of Magic Johnson Entertainment, where she’ll oversee all film and TV development for the production arm of Magic Johnson Enterprises.
Sneed will report to MJE chief Earvin (Magic) Johnson. The hire follows the departure of MJE development veep Kaj Goldberg, who remains a consultant to the company.
Sneed comes to MJE after working in showbiz and on Wall Street. Most recently, she was senior veep of development for Tim Reid Prods. She also served stints with United Image Entertainment and worked as director of business affairs for John Singleton’s New Deal Prods.
Sneed’s feature production credits include Spike Lee’s “Jungle Fever” and “Malcom X” and Singleton’s “Poetic Justice” and “Higher Learning.”
Before moving into showbiz, Sneed worked as a stockbroker and as a financial consultant to Merrill Lynch. She also served as a veep in the mutual funds department of Philips, Appel & Walden.
Production credits for MJE’s 2-year-old entertainment arm include the recent TNT telefilm “Passing Glory” and the Fox Sports docu “Magic vs. Bird: The Game that Changed the Game.”
