Dea Shandera has been upped to exec veep of marketing at MGM Television.
Shandera will lead all promotional campaigns for the company’s TV programming, including frosh syndie strip “National Enquirer TV” and second-year syndie series “Stargate SG-1” and “The Outer Limits.”
Reporting to MGM TV Entertainment prexy Hank Cohen and the company’s prexy of worldwide distribution Jim Griffiths, Shandera will also drum up buzz for MGM Web sites and manage station relations.
“Dea has done an exceptional job in creating the highest visibility for our programming, aggressively generating awareness and excitement for the shows among both the stations and the consumers,” Cohen said.
Most recently, as senior veep of MGM TV marketing, Shandera spearheaded advertising for the series “Poltergeist: The Legacy,” “The Outer Limits” and “Stargate SG-1” and for telepics “12 Angry Men” and “Rocky Marciano.”
Prior to teaming with MGM in 1996, Shandera worked at Pink Sunset Prods., a TV and film company she co-founded in 1992.
She also served a seven-year stint as VP of creative services for the Disney Channel.
