NEW YORK — Nickelodeon has promoted Paula Kaplan to head the cabler’s talent-relations division. The announcement was made by Alison Dexter, senior VP of production operations and planning for Nick.
Her new position as VP, talent, includes talent relations and casting for Nickelodeon’s U.S. cable web and Nick’s original movies.
Kaplan will also oversee the day-to-day celebrity books for Nickelodeon events, including Nick’s Kid Choice Awards and the Big Help.
Kaplan will lead Nickelodeon’s strategies to raise its corporate profile within the creative community.
In her previous positions as senior director and VP of talent relations, Kaplan helped build Nick’s West Coast talent-relations department.
Kaplan helped raise the profile of Nick’s Kids Choice Awards by attracting such stars as Rosie O’Donnell, Whitney Houston, Jim Carrey, Will Smith and Drew Barrymore.
She also cast the celebrity cameos for the $100 million-grossing “The Rugrats Movie” and its sequel.
