New digs, staff for Sony gaming

Advertising beefs up

Hoping to attract more advertising dollars — especially from the Internet sector — to its gaming Web site, Sony Online Entertainment has beefed up its advertising sales dept. and opened an office in San Francisco.

Among those joining the team are Beth Ellis and Sean O’Neal as district managers. Sarah Krasney, previously an ad sales coordinator, has been upped to account exec.

Ellis, who last worked in advertising for ‘Net rep firm 2Can Media, will head the new San Francisco office. The add-on will primarily service the Silicon Valley’s online ad market to attract ad dollars to SOE’s TheStation@sony.com gaming Web site.

Both O’Neal, previously an advertising sales manager at N2K/Music Boulevard Network, and Krasney, will be based out of New York.

Krasney will specialize in the technology and gamer hardware/software category. Prior to joining SOE, she worked in both entertainment and advertising at Paramount Pictures, Brillstein-Grey Entertainment and McCann-Erikson, Los Angeles.

“The increased demand for our product and our projections for the growth of Sony’s online advertising business have required us to staff up aggressively,” said Chris Tice, SOE’s senior veep of marketing and advertising sales. “We’re experiencing tremendous sales growth as more marketers recognize the power of entertainment on the Internet.”

SOE’s gaming site currently has over 3.5 million users.
