Murphy joins ‘Queen’ court

Staff finalized for syndicated talker

With the countdown clock ticking, Telepictures execs have finalized their senior production staff for syndie talker “Queen Latifah.”

Veteran producer Terry Murphy has been brought in to join Queen Latifah and Sha-Kim Compere as exec producer on the show, while supervising producers David Armour and April Benimowitz have been upped to co-executive producers.

Murphy has been serving as creative consultant on the syndie strip during its startup, and moves in as part of the production pact she signed with Telepictures earlier this year.

Murphy had been a showrunner for the past 15 years and was serving as a freelance executive producer before moving to “Latifah.” Murphy moves in after Kathy Chermol ankled last month amid creative differences.

Armour joined the talkshow after serving for six years at Columbia TriStar’s “Ricki Lake.” Benimowitz has been involved in the launch of six series, including last summer’s “Forgive or Forget,” on which she served as executive producer.

“Queen Latifah” will bow in national syndication Sept. 20.
