The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences has tapped Eugene Maillard executive director of the NARAS Foundation.
“Eugene Maillard is a proactive, entrepreneurial thinker who has vast experience in bringing the political, arts and corporate communities together for a greater common purpose,” said Academy prexy Michael Greene, who made the announcement Monday. “Eugene, together with his staff, will help build the scope of educational programs that will raise the awareness of this country’s essential need for arts education.”
In his new post, Maillard will spearhead projects and programs to enhance music and arts education. He will also oversee the academy’s newly acquired Leonard Bernstein Center for Learning.
Prior to his appointment, Maillard served as CEO of Very Special Arts, an affiliate of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
