Rapidly expanding specialized distributor Lions Gate Releasing has tapped former Universal homevid exec Susann Nicholson for the newly created post of director of ancillary sales.
Nicholson, who will be based in Los Angeles and report to Lions Gate co-presidents Tom Ortenberg and Mark Urman, is charged with managing the company’s various ancillary output arrangements.
Her primary responsibility will be to work closely with Universal Studios Home Video, her former employer, with whom Lions Gate inked a multi-year deal for video, DVD, pay-per-view and non-theatrical distribution last year.
Lions Gate, which also has a pay-cable deal with HBO, handles all other television distribution, including free TV and cable.
“We are delighted to have someone of Susann’s caliber and level of expertise join our expanding team,” said Ortenberg. “She will be an invaluable addition.”
Prior to joining Lions Gate, Nicholson was the senior product manager at Universal Studios Home Video, where she was responsible for overseeing marketing programs and acted as sales and distribution liaison to Universal Pictures, October Films and Lions Gate.
Lions Gate’s current video releases include the critically acclaimed “Love and Death on Long Island” and Vincent Gallo’s arthouse hit “Buffalo 66.” The company’s first two Oscar-winning releases “Gods and Monsters” and “Affliction” will hit video store shelves on June 8 and July 6 respectively.
