Industrial Light & Magic has tapped Andy Hendrickson director of systems development, while Dan McNamara has been upped to director of film and editorial services.
In his newly created role, Hendrickson will work with the architecture of existing digital infrastructure systems at ILM as well as shape future innovations in the area. He also will be responsible for overseeing relationships with ILM’s hardware vendors.
Hendrickson will make up the rest of ILM’s digital systems development team, which includes Christian Rouet, who heads up research and development, and production engineering leader Joe Takai.
Hendrickson’s appointment marks his return to ILM after a two-year stint as director of computer systems at Advanced Pathology Systems of San Francisco. He left ILM as computer systems engineering manager.
“Andy Hendrickson’s return to ILM signals a renewed commitment on our part to taking the next step in innovative technology systems,” said Gail Currey, ILM’s chief operations officer.
In his new role, McNamara will oversee all film scanning, recording and editorial needs for feature and commercial projects. He also will be responsible for assessing new product and editorial vendor relationships.
He previously served as visual f/x supervisor for ILM’s commercials division, working on technical spots for Chevy Blazer and Dodge Dakota. He joined ILM in 1991 as an editor in the commercial productions division.
