Pat Pattison has been tapped VP of licensing and promotion at entertainment gift manufacturer Applause.

Pattison will help translate film, TV and music projects into Applause retail gift lines. He will also maintain the company’s relationships with its current licensers, including LucasFilm, Disney, Warner Brothers, Nickelodeon and Saban.

Most recently, Pattison was prexy of Burbank-based PromoToys, overseeing merchandising for clients, including Paris Disneyland, Walt Disney Home Video and Warner Bros.

Prior to PromoToys, Pattison worked as supervisor of creative services at Disneyland and served as veep of creative services for Buena Vista Television.

Shelly Harper has been named executive producer of WNBC’s “Today in New York.”

In her new post, Harper will oversee the day-to-day operations and production of the newscast.

Harper joined “Today in New York” in 1996 as a producer and was most recently the senior producer. Prior to joining WNBC, Harper was the news and segment producer for Working Woman TV and the producer for WBAL-TV’s newscasts and special projects.

PricewaterhouseCoopers has upped Steven Abraham and Jennifer Taylor to co-head its communications and entertainment/media department.

In their new roles, Abraham and Taylor will assist clients in converging toward the expanding Internet and digital technology industries.

Abraham will continue his previous role as managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Global Entertainment & Media consulting department, where he advises clients in theatrical and studio operations.

Based in San Francisco, Taylor will also continue her previous role as managing partner of the Americas communications department, working with telecommunication and cable clients.

Cartoon Networks has announced the promotion of Phyllis Ehrlich to VP of promotions marketing.

Ehrlich will manage operations of the entire sales and marketing promotions department.

Ehrlich came to Cartoon Network in 1997 as VP of marketing, licensed promotions.

Warner Bros. has announced the promotion of Lauren Dansey to VP of video services.

Dansey will supervise the creative direction and on-air efforts of Warner Bros. domestic television distribution and Telepictures distribution’s syndicated programming promotional campaigns. She will also oversee the staff directors, producers and the operation of the inhouse editing facility.

Dansey joined the company in 1997 as director of video services.

Melinda Duchak has joined Univision Communications as VP of marketing and research for national spot sales.

Duchak will oversee the research and marketing efforts for Univision’s national spot sales teams.

Previously, Duchak was the director of national sales research for Lifetime Television.

John Zamoiski has been named president and chairman of the board for the Promotion Marketing Assn.

Zamoiski was president of Promotion Development Group, where he represented such clients as A&E Networks, Fox Family Channel, Microsoft and BMG Music. Before that, Zamoiski worked for Barnum & Bailey and Ringling Bros., and headed the promotion department for AshLeDonne Advertising.

Larry Blackerby has joined Journal Broadcast Group as VP and general manager.

In his new post, Blackerby will oversee the management of KMIR-TV, which Journal Broadcast Group previously acquired and will take over in August.

Blackerby was formerly VP and general manager of WJTV. Prior to working there, Blackerby was VP of broadcasting for WGHP-TV and managed programming for KOLR-TV.

Red Ant Entertainment has upped George Silva to VP of top 40 promotion/East Coast and Eddie Jorge to VP of urban promotion.

Silva will be responsible for launching radio campaigns on behalf of Red Ant artists as well as overseeing the promotion staff for all eastern territories.

Prior to starting at Red Ant in 1997, Silva was the national promotion director for Motown Records.

Jorge joined Red Ant in 1997 as national director of urban promotion. In his new position he will direct the staff targeting urban, rap, and adult urban radio and video.

Leslie Sorrentino is rejoining the staff of 525 Studios as a producer, after a 10-year absence.

Sorrentino had previously worked at 525 Studios from 1989 to 1991. He started as a client assistant and worked his way up through the company.

Most recently, he worked at Post Logic as executive producer.

Interlight has hired Jeremy Lappen as VP of business affairs.

In his new position, Lappen will be responsible for all areas related to the financing, distribution and licensing of the motion pictures as well as all talent and property negotiations and acquisitions.

Previously, Lappen worked as an entertainment and corporate attorney for Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp LLP.

TV Guide Networks has named David Merrill as VP of finance. He will report to Pam McKissick, president and CEO.

Merrill will develop strategic plans and analyze mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures for TV Guide Networks.

Most recently, Merrill was a senior manager at Deloitte & Touche LLP, where he devised risk assessments and management improvement strategies.

Michael C. LaBonia has been upped to VP and general manager of WGNO-TV.

In his new role, LaBonia will be responsible for launching programs and increasing viewership.

LaBonia joined WGNO-TV in 1987 and has held various sales positions at the station, including national sales manager and general sales manager.
