Stanley Tepper has ankled his post as entertainment controller of Village Roadshow Pictures to pursue opportunities in independent film.

Films produced during Tepper’s tenure with VRP include “Deep Blue Sea,” “The Matrix,” “Practical Magic” and “Analyze This.”

Previously, Tepper was a principal at entertainment management firm TASA. He has also worked as controller of distribution at ALMI Distribution-RKO Warner Theatres and as director of finance for joint ventures at Warner Communications-Orion Pictures.

Joey Alkes, long-time music industry figure has been appointed to the position of licensing director for the Rev/Resist Label Group. Alkes’ duties include exploiting its copyrights and expanding the use of the catalogs by setting up and licensing music to the film and TV markets. Lakes is also working to obtain further worldwide licenses for the distribution of all Rev/Resist product.

Chet Brett has joined C3 Entertainment as manager of productions and creative affairs. Brett will be responsible for creating and overseeing the development of entertainment opportunities for C3 properties. Brett most recently worked at AdvantEdge Television Advertising as director of sales and marketing.

Fox Family Music has promoted Barron Abramovitch to VP of technical operations. Abramovitch will manage all in-house music studios, music editing suites, the purchase of music software and equipment, and oversee technical operations and key technical staff. Previously, Abramovitch was the chief musical engineer and editor for Saban Entertainment.

Lauren Iungerich has been promoted to director of development at RKO Pictures. Iungerich will be responsible for overseeing the company’s existing slate of internal projects as well as seeking out new material. Iungerich joined RKO in 1998 as a creative executive.

Additionally, RKO has named Josh Schaer as creative director and Steve Petyerak as story editor.

Schaer will be responsible for developing film projects from the company’s extensive library as well as fulfill open writing and directing assignments and attract talent to the division.

Petyerak will be responsible for developing and maintaining the company’s massive screenplay library.

Jag Entertainment announced the appointment of Sheri Goldberg as VP of special events and daytime television.

In addition to heading both departments, Goldberg will work on the company’s existing accounts. Goldberg previously handled publicity at Murray Weissman & Associates.

Red Ant Records has promoted Jim Stein to VP of top 40 West Coast. Stein will work with the label’s artists in his specified format as well as oversee regional promotion representatives. Stein joined Red Ant in 1996 as southwest regional director.

Gina Mace-Sands has been tapped director of promotions for Saban. Mace-Sands will manage key promotional categories in support of the company’s property initiatives and licensed product launches. Previously, Mace-Sands worked at the Regan Group.

In addition, Stacey Gardner has been promoted to account manager. In her new position, Gardner will oversee and create promotional opportunities and activities surrounding the company’s property initiatives and licensing programs. Garner joined Saban’s promotion team in 1998.

Discovery Networks has named Greg Brake director of the western region. Brake will be responsible for securing the universal distribution of Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, Animal Planet and Travel Channel. Brake had been district manager at Corporate Management Solutions.

Jodi Morelli has been named director of affiliate marketing for FOX News Channel. Morelli was previously director of event marketing at FOX Liberty Networks.

Sugar Hill Records has tapped Kim Fowler as manager of media and artist relations. In her new post, she will supervise national media campaigns and coordinate publicity events. Before joining Sugar Hill, Fowler worked as a publicist for Network Ink, where she represented such clients as Pam Tillis, Clay Walker and John Jennings.

Douglas Barrett has been tapped as president and CEO of Cauldron Corp. He will help expand the company’s acquisitions and services departments in Canada and other countries. He also will oversee PS Production Services Ltd., which is owned by Cauldron and is one of Canada’s leading providers of motion picture and television equipment.

Formerly, Barrett was a senior partner at the law firm of McMillan Binch and helped negotiate the merger of Alliance Atlantis Communications. With his new position, Barrett will continue to hold his partnership at McMillan Binch.

Los Angeles and London PR company Dennis Davidson Associates has upped Alexandra Pollock to the rank of publicist. Pollock was previously an assistant to the praisery’s Elliot Chang.
