ESPN has upped David Berson from manager to director, operations, distribution development. His new duties include overseeing the operational and financial aspects of the company’s pay-per-view businesses. He was also instrumental in the growing distribution of tne net’s services to digital cable customers.

Prior to serving as manager, Berson was supervisor, distribution operations for pay subscription televi-sion, affiliate sales and marketing for the net.

The Jim Henson Company has named Richard Oren product manager, licensing division.

In his new position, Oren will be responsible for domestic merchandise business as well as development and management of the company’s licensing partnerships in these areas.

Prior to joining the company, Oren was a product manager at Arcotoys, Inc.

Merv Griffin Entertainment has tapped Troy Westergaard as development exec. He joins MGE from Katie Face Productions where he served as director of development, movies & series. He also served a stint with Steven Krantz Producitons in the same capacity.

John Storrier and Steve Pinkus have joined National Entertainment as executive editors.

Storrier was most recently chief operating officer for Pearson All-American where he oversaw business affairs and strategic planning and was involved in merchandising, licensing and program distribution.

Pinkus was previously executive director of special projects at Pearson All-American and has also served as exec producer of several original series.

Susan Lewis has been named senior VP for communications at the Recording Industry Association of America. In her new role, Lewis will oversee the association’s media and public relations efforts encompassing technology initiatives, First Amendment challenges and legislative actions.

Prior to joining the RIAA Lewis served as VP for corporate communications at COMSAT. She has also served stints as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Treasury and as Director of Public Affairs for the FCC.
