De Torsiac joins HBO Brazil

Exec named general manager

MIAMI — Axel de Torsiac has ankled Fox to become HBO Brazil’s new general manager, effective Nov. 22.

De Torsiac will be responsible for the Brazil office, overseeing all aspects of sales and marketing in the Brazilian market. He was the regional director at Fox in Brazil, working on the launch, marketing and distribution of the Fox, Fox Kids and Fox Sports channels. Before Fox, de Torsiac was the sales and marketing manager at Brazilian pay-TV company Televisao Abril (TVA), a subsid of Grupo Abril and a partner in HBO Brazil.

In September, HBO Latin America signed an exclusive carriage deal with satcaster Galaxy Brasil, but said it would continue to make cable distrib deals in Brazil.
