Sarah Timberman, a six-year Columbia TriStar TV vet who shepherded the studio’s signature hits “Dawson’s Creek” and “Party of Five,” has been promoted to exec VP of series development for Col TriStar.
Timberman, formerly senior veep of drama development, will oversee all of the studio’s network series development. She reports to Helene Michaels, prexy of network production.
“Sarah is simply the best at what she does,” said Michaels. “We’re confident she’ll do exceedingly well as she makes this natural progression, extending her reach into the comedy arena.”
During the past year, Timberman supervised the development of the “Party of Five” spinoff “Time of Your Life” and “Manchester Prep” for Fox, “Family Law” and “Falcone” for CBS and “Secret Agent Man” for UPN.
Timberman’s promotion follows a major exec shuffle at Col TriStar, during which Col TriStar TV prexy Eric Tannenbaum ankled along with a handful of top execs to found Artists Television Group. Michaels was upped to prexy of production in June, and additional programming hires are expected soon.
Before signing on with Col TriStar in 1993, Timberman worked as veep of Lewis Chesler Prods., overseeing the development of series, telepics and specs for Fox, HBO and Showtime. Earlier in her career, Timberman was an assistant editor at Random House.
