With a lot of questions still in the air surrounding its partnership with NBC, Paxson Communications has promoted Douglas Barker to senior VP of affiliate relations, where he will help smooth the transition of the new Pax/Peacock relationship.
Barker will now oversee and expand Pax TV’s 51 primary and secondary affiliates while initiating and implementing all joint service agreement relationships the company may consider entering into with NBC O&Os as well as NBC affiliates.
Under the new joint sales relationships, NBC O&Os or network affiliated stations would serve as the local advertising sales rep for the local Pax TV station and may provide programming and local news.
“Doug has successfully built our affiliated station base to 51 network-affiliated stations, which has been essential to Pax TV’s coverage of the country,” said Paxson CEO Jeff Sagansky. “His 20 years of television management experience serves him well for his increased responsibilities, particularly working closely with NBC affiliates.”
Barker joined Paxson in 1994 as VP and general manager of WPBF, the ABC affiliate in West Palm Beach before moving up to Paxson Communications in 1998.
