Antioco’s Blockbuster bucks

Chairman reports $5.95 mil salary

NEW YORK — Blockbuster chairman/CEO John Antioco earned $5.95 million last year, the video rental giant revealed in a Securities & Exchange Commission filing Friday, only about $1 million below the total payout earned by Viacom deputy chairmen Tom Dooley and Philippe Dauman.

In an amended version of the prospectus for its upcoming initial public offering, Blockbuster said Antioco earned $1.2 million in salary and $4.75 million in bonuses. Last year, Dooley and Dauman were each paid $1 million in salary and $6 million in bonuses.

Blockbuster said $1 million of Antioco’s 1998 bonus was an installment on his signing bonus. It did not disclose the total size of the signing bonus or any other details of Antioco’s employment agreement. Antioco joined Blockbuster in June 1997.

Viacom plans to sell a minority stake in Blockbuster in an offering expected to be priced during the summer and then spin off its remaining stake several months later.
