HOLLYWOOD — Steven Weber has been cast as the male lead opposite Laura Linney in “Love Letters,” a two-hour movie for ABC that begins shooting next week in Toronto.
Weber will play Linney’s lifelong friend in a relationship the pair have kept alive by exchanging letters ever since they fell in love as children. Stanley Donen directs the pic, which is based on the play of the same title by A.R. Gurney. Leonard Goldberg and Martin Starger exec produce.
Weber’s television credits include a long co-starring stint on NBC’s ‘Wings,” and the miniseries “Thanks of a Grateful Nation,” “Stephen King’s The Shining” and “The Kennedys of Massachusetts.” His feature film credits include “Jeffrey,” “The Break Up” and “Sour Grapes.”
Weber’s deal was brokered by Toni Howard and Leigh Brillstein at ICM and Julie Yorn at Industry Entertainment.
