MGM Animation has signed thesps William H. Macy, Peri Gilpin, Jeffrey Tambor and Betty White, among others, to provide voices for its upcoming animated skein “The Lionhearts.”

Macy (“Fargo,” “ER”) will roar for Leo, the MGM lion who stars in the tongue-in-cheek comedy about the hard-working studio icon and his chaotic family life. Gilpin (“Frasier”) will vocalize for Lana, Leo’s unconventional wife.

Tambor will revive his persona from “The Larry Sanders Show,” which just wrapped its six-year run on HBO, in taking on the role of Hank, Leo’s boss at the studio. White (“The Golden Girls,” “Mary Tyler Moore”) will play Dorothy, the studio’s ditzy makeup artist.

Also signed as regulars for the series are Harve Presnell, Wallace Shawn and Joe Pantoliano. MGM Animation is producing 13 half-hour segs of “The Lionhearts,” set for a September bow in syndication.

“What we have here is a dream cast beyond our wildest expectations,” said MGM Worldwide TV Group prexy John Symes in announcing the signings.
