Worry not, “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” fans. CBS was said to be close to inking a deal Wednesday with “Dr. Quinn” creator Beth Sullivan for a vidpic that would extend the storyline of the just-canceled Eye web skein. Indignant “Dr. Quinn” fans have been burning up the Internet ever since CBS unveiled its “Quinn”-less fall sked last week.

The show, which bowed in 1993, was produced by Sullivan and CBS Prods. It was unclear Wednesday if series star Jane Seymour has formally agreed to take part in a “Dr. Quinn” telefilm, but she did express undying loyalty to her audience in a statement issued earlier this week regarding the cancellation.

“I was stunned and devastated to realize that winning our timeslot every week for six years and having a loyal global audience meant nothing,” Seymour said. “I’ll endeavor to find a way to keep this kind of alternative programming available.” If successful, “Dr. Quinn” made-fors could become a telepic franchise for CBS.
