NEW YORK — HBO is on a roll with its “World Championship Boxing” specials, racking up a humongous 12.8 Nielsen rating and 24 share in HBO households for the Saturday, Oct. 31 featherweight championship bout between Prince Naseem Hamed and Wayne McCullough, the network’s highest-rated main event so far this year.
Hamed’s 12-round decision edged the previous high, a 12.0 rating and 23 share in HBO homes for Oscar de La Hoya’s June 13 victory over Patrick Charpen-tier. HBO has now clocked double-digit cable universe ratings for its last six main events on the “World Championship Boxing” series.
