Former “Grace Under Fire” executive producer Kevin Abbott has signed on as exec producer of ABC’s “Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place” next season.
Abbott has an overall deal at Brillstein-Grey, which is loaning him to 20th Century Fox to run the sitcom this fall. In addition to “Grace Under Fire,” Abbott was a supervising producer of “Roseanne.”
He joins the comedy’s creator, Danny Jacobson, as well as Marjorie Weitzman and Mark Ganzel, who was recently upped from co-executive producer to exec producer. Rick Wiener and Kenny Schwartz, who created the show with Jacobson, also remain as co-exec producers next season.
Abbott is working with 20th Century Fox even after exec producing the comedy “MV24,” which was nipped in the bud by the studio’s sister network Fox after the web had ordered 13 episodes. That incident sparked a financial spat between the production company and the network, which was ultimately resolved.
“Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place” will air Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. this fall, following “Dharma & Greg.”
