Protest over Downey detail

Actor taking trips for film work

LOS ANGELES – Actor Robert Downey Jr. took another day off from jail to work at a movie studio Wednesday, infuriating the local sheriff who went to court to try and block the judge-ordered work leave. “I’ve got news for Mr Downey…he is a criminal. That’s why he’s in jail,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Sherman Block said. He told reporters a sheriff’s department lawyer had been dispatched to court to try to block Malibu Municipal Judge Lawrence Mira’s order allowing Downey days out of prison to work on film projects. The Oscar-nominated actor, who is serving six months for violating his probation on drug charges, has twice visited the Paramount studios to do post-production on films and Wednesday he was at Warner Bros.
