Funeral services will be held today for actor Richard Paul, who died Dec. 25 of cancer in Studio City. He was 58.
During his 35-year career, his roles ranged from Shakespearean characters to the Rev. Jerry Falwell in the 1996 movie “The People vs. Larry Flynt,” and included Mayor Sam Booth on TV’s “Murder, She Wrote” and the mayor of a small Georgia town in the situation comedy “Carter Country,” 1977 to 1979.
He performed cartoon voiceovers and appeared on albums of the Firesign Theater comedy troupe. He also appeared regularly on “The Drew Carey Show” and “Beverly Hills, 90210.”
He completed his last film role eight months ago, appearing with Jerry Stiller and Janeane Garofalo in the unreleased film “The Independent.”
Paul, who was born in Los Angeles, is survived by his wife, Patty, and a sister, Dorothy Kanner.
Funeral services are scheduled for today at St. Dominic’s Roman Church in Eagle Rock.
