‘Egypt’ inspires 2 CDs

Spin-offs offer diverse musical styles

DreamWorks will release two CDs of songs “inspired by” its biblically-themed ‘toon “The Prince of Egypt,” in addition to the pic’s traditional soundtrack album.

The star-studded spin-off discs — one contemporary country, one a blend of R&B, pop and gospel — will hit record stores in mid-Fall, preceding the pic’s Dec. 18 theatrical debut.

Country artists represented will include Vince Gill, Reba McEntire, Wynonna, Randy Travis and Clint Black. The other disc will feature acts including Boyz II Men, Kirk Franklin, Jars of Clay and DC Talk.

DreamWorks claims this is the first time that two complete albums from different musical genres have been created in support of a film release.
