Dion bows concert arm

CDA to handle singer's int'l tour planning, production

Bringing another aspect of her recording career inhouse, Celine Dion and husband/manager Rene Angelil have bowed CDA Prods., an international concert production outfit that will be involved in the planning and execution of Dion’s live perfs around the world.

Dion, whose latest tour kicks off in Boston Aug. 16, has tapped longtime associate Barry Garber as the firm’s senior veep and head of the operation. CDA will be housed in Montreal with Dion’s management company, Feeling Prods.

“With the extremely demanding touring schedule that Celine maintains, this is an inevitable stage in the evolution of our organization,” said Angelil. “Barry has been an important part of our team for many years and Celine and I have every confidence that CDA will be an exciting adventure for all of us.”

Garber will oversee Dion’s day-to-day touring business, while working in concert with Creative Artists Agency, her outside agency.

As a former veep of DKD Universal Concerts Canada, Garber worked with vet promoter Donald K. Donald as Dion’s international touring agent since 1990.

Both Dion and Angelil plan to be proactive in the company, which will also be used to develop other musical projects for future production.
