Horvitz to helm Academy broadcast

Emmy-winner Louis J. Horvitz has been tapped to direct the 70th Oscar telecast, his second year helming the Academy Awards program.

Horvitz has directed more than 5,000 hours of television, including numerous specials and awards programs. He has helmed the last six Emmycasts, five years of the Kennedy Center Honors, the last six People’s Choice Awards and others.

The Oscarcast will be held March 23, and will be broadcast by ABC beginning at 6 p.m. PT.
