Flashpoint turns to U.K.

Sales Co.'s Thompson to handle worldwide for new slate

CANNES — U.K. financier Flashpoint is poised to invest $30 million in a slate of at least five pics from “Secrets & Lies” producer Simon Channing-Williams.

This will be Flashpoint’s first major investment in the U.K. after committing more than $100 million to several L.A.-based production companies over the past nine months.

Flashpoint will work with Channing-Williams’ U.K. company Imagine Films (no relation to Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s U-based company) and his L.A.-based partner, Kelley Feldsott Reynolds, to produce the pics.

Imagine’s Stephanie Faugier is also expected to take on producing chores while Channing-Williams is separately engaged on Mike Leigh’s current pic “Untitled ’98.”

Alison Thompson of the Sales Co. has agreed in principle to handle worldwide sales for the slate.

Projects include “Behind the Mask,” based on a Louisa May Alcott short story, with Anjelica Huston set to star.
